Meet Audie

Meet Audie (it means noble strength) the inspiration for Healing Critters Sanctuary (formally Healing Paws Cat Sanctuary). Before the Sanctuary existed someone contacted me about a VERY sick litter of (5) 2 week old kittens that didn't have a momma an 1 was VERY small an seemed to have an issue with her back legs an couldn't walk right .. Well ofcourse I took them in .. I knew as soon as they made it to me they had distemper an were all on deaths door .. I worked thru the night administering meds, fluids an love but unfortunately 4 of them passed ... All EXCEPT the runt with the nerve damage (as we would later diagnose) ... she barely weighed 4oz an was still so sick .. I kept treating her an loving on her day an night an after weeks of care Audie went on to make a full recovery of the distemper .. We would later learn she had nerve damage in both back legs that would be permanent BUT she doesn't let that stop her from running around like a idiot at 3am with her siblings!! Audie is gonna be 11 in Aug and weighs in at only 5.4lbs she is just a petite little thing but has a HUGE personality to make up for it ... It was then that I realized there wasn't anywhere for feral like her to live safely as in the wild she would not have survived.. An this is how Healing Paws came to be .. a 4oz little nugget that had the will and fight to survive deserved somewhere safe to call home 🐱💕
